The U.S. Health Care Systems: Origins, Operations, and Implications

This macro-level course explores the many attempts, both successful and unsuccessful, to provide quality and cost-efficient health care in the United States. It covers the latest developments in health care reform regarding rationing and capitation in managed care. In addition, different delivery insurance models are evaluated, i.e. indemnity, HMOs, TPAs, PPOs, HPOs, as well as the local, state and federal health system.
