Course Description
The study of the origins and evolution of the English language from Indo-European through Germanic, Old English, Middle English, and Modern English. Other topics include the development of writing and the position of English in the world today. The course is presented from the perspective of applied linguistics. Prerequisites: C- or better in AL 2000 (concurrent enrollment allowed)
