Overview
Description
This course examines how the theory of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), the umbrella term for activities that help a learner become linguistically functional in a specific application or domain of English, helps to shape ESP instruction. In particular, students will be presented with how various theoretical factors such as theories of learning and language descriptions gibe rise to ESP applications that include the design and evaluation of ESP instructional activities. To this end, students will have first-hand practical opportunities to design ESP course materials and activities justified by these previous theoretical factors and perspectives that shape current ESP practice.
