Course Description
This course introduces the basics of engineering mechanics through the analysis of forces acting on particles and rigid bodies in static equilibrium. Statics is fundamental to Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and has applications in many other areas of engineering. Subject covered: equivalent systems of forces, moments and resultants; analysis of trusses, frames, and machines; centroids, moments of inertia; friction.
