Description

This is a graduate course that covers the theories, approaches and techniques used in group psychological treatment. The student will learn group therapy behaviors that influence helping processes and group therapy theories that will provide the student with models to conceptualize group presentation and that help the student select appropriate group treatment interventions. The course will teach the principles of group dynamics, including group process components, developmental stage theories, group members’ roles and behaviors, and therapeutic factors of group work. The course will also demonstrate group leadership or facilitation styles and approaches, including characteristics of various types of group leaders and leadership styles. Restricted to students in the Doctorate of Clinical Psychology program.
